Jo L. Shane

Jo Lu Shane, age 67, of Hot Springs, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2018.

She was born on July 7, 1951, in St. Elmo, Ill., the daughter of T.H. Shane and Madonna Louisa Long Shane. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Jo was a graduate of Lake Hamilton High School and attended Henderson State University. She was a former employee of HomeGoods, Hot Springs. She had a great appreciation for music, especially Garth Brooks.

Jo had a loving, nurturing spirit, an attribute evident by the life that flourished around her. She had a magical green thumb, able to propagate anything from tender cuttings. Flower and vegetable gardens always thrived under her care, as did her children. She loved her family and devoted her life to them.

She is survived by her son, Matthew D. Phillips, of Hot Springs; her daughter and sonin-law, Laura Bay Ruggeri and husband Bryan, of McKinney, Texas; one grandchild, Camryn Ruggeri; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Penny Richards of Delight, and Linda Brammer and husband, Ed, of Hot Springs; as well as lots of beloved nieces and nephews and some amazing friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
