LH sweeps tri-matches in HSV
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Lake Hamilton prevailed Thursday in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions in a nine-hole trimatch hosted by Fountain Lake at Isabella Golf Course.
Centerpoint also competed in the boys’ competition, while Kaydra Fox shot a 48 to lead the girls’ competition as Centerpoint’s only representative.
All three boys teams were separated by just eight strokes. Senior Caleb Dodd’s 39 paced the Wolves to a team score of 130.
“Caleb Dodd continues to be consistent, shooting his best score of the year at 39,” said Lake Hamilton coach Brandi Higginbotham. Jordan Johnson is staying on his pace and Peyton Garner upped his game in this match shooting his best
score of the season at 45. The boys match was a really tight one with Centerpoint and Fountain Lake both very close in stroke play.
Junior Zach Redifer paced the Cobras with a round of 41. Sophomore Lachlan Murray shot a 45 and senior Jordan Mungle carded a 51.
“The boys are really starting to come around,” said Fountain Lake coach Michael Blees. “We should get better and better as the year goes on. Hats off to Lake Hamilton for a quality win.”
Kaden Owens led the Knights with a round of 44. Gabe Doster and Dylan Fox each shot 47.
The young Lake Hamilton girls team was led by a 57 by freshman Ginny Higginbotham. Lake Hamilton won with a team score of 197.
“Ginny, Kenley Spruill and Hayleigh Wyrick all did a nice job hanging in scoring close to their averages to only edge out Fountain Lake by four strokes,” Higginbotham said. “Kaydra Fox from Centerpoint played a really nice round.”
Another freshman, Camille McDaniel, led the Lady Cobras with a round of 65. Senior Elaine Altimus and junior Sydney Mungle helped Fountain Lake finished with a team score of 201.
“I am super proud of my young ladies,” Blees said. “They continue to work hard and look to get better and better.”
Lake Hamilton is scheduled to meet Bismarck on Monday at DeGray Lake Resort Golf Course. Fountain Lake is scheduled to face Jessieville on Tuesday at Cortez Golf Course in Hot Springs Village.
