The search for a stolen car Saturday evening resulted in the arrest of two reportedly homeless women less than an hour later on multiple felony charges after drugs were allegedly found in their possession. Lacey Nichole Hamilton, 34, and Desaray “Dizzy” Marie Williams, 24, who list no current address, were taken into custody around 7:30 p.m. and charged with theft by receiving over $5,000 and possession of meth with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and possession of drug paraphernalia, punishable by up to six years, and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, punishable by up to one year in jail.

Williams was also charged with a misdemeanor count of obstructing government operations. Hamilton was being held on $13,000 while Williams was being held on a zero bond parole hold and both were set to appear Monday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Hot Springs police responded to the 300 block of Laser Street where the owner of a 2004 Toyota RAV4, valued at $8,000, reported the vehicle had been stolen about 20 minutes earlier.

A witness told police she had seen a woman, known as Desaray Williams, walk down the street, get into the vehicle and drive away. About 30 minutes later, officers learned the vehicle had been spotted at the Economy Inn, 805 E. Grand.

Officers arrived at the motel and found the vehicle and noted two women, later identified as Hamilton and Williams, were going through it. Williams initially gave a false name when asked, but later admitted her true identity. Both women were taken into custody.

During a search of the vehicle, officers several different purses in the front and rear of the vehicle which the women stated belonged to them. In the purses, the officers found 0.2 gram of what later tested positive for meth, 1.1 grams of marijuana, two syringes, a glass pipe, a baggie, spoon and scales, all with meth residue.

Neither of the women would claim the contents of the bags, but items were found inside the bag containing the names of both suspects.

• A local woman was arrested for endangering her children after she allegedly drove over to the children’s father’s house while intoxicated with her children in the car late Saturday.

Latoya Ann Pruitt, 37, who lists a Spring Street address, was taken into custody shortly after 10 p.m. and charged with three counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and DWI, first offense, all misdemeanors punishable by up to one year in jail.

Pruitt was later released on $4,000 bond and is set to appear Aug. 21 in district court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly after 9:30 p.m., Officer 1st Class Zachary Brown responded to the 300 block of Mason Street regarding a car parked in the roadway and someone causing a disturbance.

Upon arrival, Brown saw a red Pontiac Firebird parked in front of a residence with the front passenger tire up on the curb and the engine still running. The driver, later identified as Pruitt, was having a confrontation with people at the residence who were having a barbecue on the front lawn.

Brown made contact with Pruitt and discovered her three children, ages 5, 3 and 2, were inside the car. He immediately observed an open, half-empty can of beer in the cup holder near the center console, an empty can of beer in the passenger seat and two more empty beer cans in the floorboard.

Pruitt reportedly admitted she had been drinking and that the children were hers. She said she had driven from her address on Spring Street to Mason Street to confront the children’s father about a civil matter.

Brown noted that due to the way she parked, the open container within her reach, and her statements, he asked her to submit to field sobriety tests and she consented. She reportedly failed three tests and then submitted to a breathalyzer test and registered 0.127 blood alcohol content, well over the legal limit, so she was taken into custody.
