FL picks up golf wins against J’ville
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Fountain Lake’s boys’ and girls’ golf teams notched victories on Tuesday in a tri-match hosted by Jessieville at the Cortez Golf Course.
The boys’ match also included Cutter Morning Star.
The Cobras bested their local opponents with a team score of 133. Junior Christopher Desfassiaux received medalist honors with a score of 38 over nine holes.
Zach Redifer followed with a score of 46 for the Cobras. Jordan Mungle added a 49.
“The boys did a magnificent job today handling a wet course,” said Fountain Lake golf coach Michael Blees. “This group could really make some noise by year’s end if they continue to work hard.”
Senior Michael Vangilder led the Lions with a score of 51. Jessieville junior Aaron Ford shot a 55 and senior Chase Pedersen added a 59.
Cutter Morning Star was unable to participate as a team, but Rhett Barrett led the Eagles with a score of 53. Colby Heaton also shot a 64.
Fountain Lake earned a win in the girls’ match by just one stroke. The hosts recorded a team score of 196 as Fountain Lake tallied 195.
The Lady Cobras were paced by medalist Sydney Mungle with a score of 59. The team included Elaine Altimus, Camille McDaniel and Kami Garrett.
“Sydney played a very good round today,” Blees said. “My girls keep working hard and continue to pick up strokes.”
Cassidy Tucker led the Lady Lions with a score of 62. Jessieville was also represented by Callie Pedersen and Kelsey Saveall.
“I’m very proud of my young team’s work within and how quick they are picking up on the game,” said Jessieville coach Todd Huff.
Jessieville is next scheduled to meet Cutter Morning Star again on Monday at the DeSoto Golf Course in Hot Springs Village.
Fountain Lake is scheduled to meet Arkadelphia today at the DeGray Lake Resort Golf Course in Bismarck. The Cobras will then have a week off before facing Centerpoint at the Glenwood Country Club.
