Jim Donahue was born on July 22, 1932, in Lincoln, Neb., to Carl Donahue and Rose Tenipor Donahue. He was fourth of five children and the youngest boy.

Jim worked as a signal repairman for the Union Pacific Railroad, and then served two years of active duty in the Army. He worked for Martin Brothers Constructi­on Company in Los Angeles, Calif., for over 30 years and retired to Arkansas 26 years ago.

He was married to Helen (Denney) Donahue for 56 years prior to her death. Helen had three children, Linda, Mel and Sylvia, who he raised as his own, and they had seven grandchild­ren, five great-grandchild­ren and eight great-great-grandchild­ren.

Jim and Helen had a home on three acres in Fountain Lake where they enjoyed watching the birds and the deer roam. After Helen’s death, Jim moved to Country Club Village where he was enjoying his apartment and the prepared meals.

Jim’s hobby was woodworkin­g and he enjoyed traveling, playing cards and working puzzles. He had several pets over the years, including his pet turtle of 57 years. He was a hardworkin­g and honest man who led a full life and was loved by his family and friends and he will be missed very much.

Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
