BISMARCK — Helen Ruth (Matthews) Jackson, 60, passed away Aug. 21, 2018, after a short but intense battle with cancer.

Helen was born March 4,

1958, in Morrilton, Conway County, Ark., to Robert “Bob” Edwin and Verda Mae “Becky” (Beck) Matthews. She was a proud graduate of Hot Springs Lakeside Class of 1976. Helen was a wife, mother and Nana. She volunteere­d with the Bismarck Little League for over

15 years and taught the toddler class at Valley Baptist Church for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her grandparen­ts; father, Bob Matthews; and her mom and dad, (Gennievee and Robert E. Jackson).

She is survived by her husband of 40-plus years, David E. Jackson; sons, David L. (Laurell) and Matthew E. (Stephanie) Jackson; six grandchild­ren, Rebecca D., Jaysa Bailey, Addison Faith, Easton Matthew and twins Emma Ruth and Kylie Ann Jackson; her two brother-inlaws, Robert L. “Bobby” (Lynn) and Dale Wayne (Kay) Jackson; her mother, Verda Mae “Becky” Matthews Bentz; sister, Bobbie (Matthews) Wright; and a half sister, Rebecca M. Blackmon.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, Aug. 23, 2018, at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Free Hill Cemetery, Point Cedar, Ark.

Pallbearer­s will be Andy Guffey, John Hill, Bobby and Dale Jackson, Howard Langley and Jason Lowe. Honorary pallbearer­s are Bonnie Glasgow, Mindy Simerley, Vickie Harris and Dan Gray.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Stephen Divers and the staff of Genesis Cancer Center and Care IV Home Health for all they did in trying to help Helen in her fight; and to Central Arkansas Hospice for seeing to her last days being as comfortabl­e as possible. “There are many angels out there.”
