CHUCKEY, Tenn. — Robert Crumpton, age 59, of Chuckey, Tenn., formerly of Hot Springs, Ark., went to be with his Lord on Aug. 10, 2018, at The Johnson City Medical Center, Tenn.

He was born to R.C. and Johnnie Mae (Smith) Crumpton on June 19, 1959, in Hot Springs, Ark. He was a member/assistant pastor at The Church of God in Erwin, Tenn.

Robert was predecease­d by his father, R.C. Crumpton; brother-in-law, Jimmy Cosby; nephew, Lance Cosby; uncle, Billy Joe Crumpton; and mother-in-law, Mary Hensley (Granny).

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife, Peggy Crumpton; his mother, Johnnie Mae Crumpton; brother, David (Bettina) Crumpton; sister, Linda Cosby; daughters, Kristina Shelton and Brandi Mendez; stepdaught­er, Mary Ruth Silvers; stepson, Kenny (Angel) Shelton; eight grandchild­ren; four great-grandchild­ren; a host of nieces and nephews; and one aunt, Nellie Jean Smith Crumpton.

The visitation and services were held at Valley Funeral Home in Erwin, Tenn., with the Rev. Danny Willis officiatin­g. Robert was escorted by his trucker buddies, on his own personal 18-wheeler and trailer, to his final resting place at Union Chapel Cemetery.

He was an inspiratio­n to us all. During his time of sickness with cancer, he never lost his faith, joy or his hope in Jesus. As Robert would say, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith,” 2 Timothy 4:22.

“Hammer Down, Heaven Bound. Rest easy driver, your shift is over. You’ll be forever in our hearts.”
