Mary Belle Dodd Jackson, 73, of Hot Springs, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 22, 1944, in Hot Springs, to Ernest J. and Ollie Bell (Coleman) Dodd.

Mary Belle worked at First National Bank before moving to Michigan where she worked at a department store in sales, later moving into management. After a few years, she moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., as the store manager for the same company.

While in Florida, she met her future husband Ron L. Jackson. Shortly after marrying, she and Ron moved back to her hometown of Hot Springs. They bought a convenienc­e store and operated it for several years before selling it. After selling the store, she worked for the Garland County Assessor’s office and the Arkansas Highway Department before retiring.

She attended the University of Arkansas, at Fayettevil­le, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, and an active board member of Huntleigh Woods Property Owners Associatio­n.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Jackson; parents; brother, Leon Dodd; and a niece, Mary Michele Dodd.

Survivors include brother, Stanley Dodd (Mary Jo); niece, Rebecca Talbert (Kenny); nephews, Walter Dodd (Kimberly) and Rick Dodd (Lesley); stepdaught­er, Lisa Jensen (Erik); seven great-nieces and nephews; four stepgrandc­hildren; and special friend Elaine Johnston.

A memorial gathering and celebratio­n of her life will take place 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Huntleigh Woods Condos’ Clubhouse.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Valley Cemetery, in care of Connie Partain, 223 West Glazy Peau Road, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909.
