Iris sale Saturday at Depot

-

The Hot Springs Iris Society, an affiliate of the American Iris Society, announces the 2018 Iris Sale from 7 a.m. until sold out on Saturday at the Farmer’s Market at Transportation Plaza. Come early for best selection.

Purchase named varieties for a fraction of the catalog prices on irises that grow well in this area. A variety of colors will be available, including irises from champion growers like Jim Bledsoe and Karen Johnson.

Complimentary growing information and resources will be available. Knowledgeable growers will be on hand to answer questions. Children under 10 receive a free iris at the sale. Sign up for membership and meeting notices.

Active in Hot Springs for more than 50 years, the society’s vision and sole purpose has been promoting the culture and improvement of the iris. Sponsoring annual sales of named irises, not available locally or at reduced prices, supports the annual juried show featuring recent introductions, Dykes Medal winners and historic irises, all of which have been locally grown and groomed by the entrants.

The April show includes irises and iris floral arrangements, competitively judged according to the rules of the American Iris Society. Funds generated by this sale support the show, education and plantings.

Memberships will be available for $5 per year; meetings are free and the public is welcome.

Call Jim Bledsoe, 501-8153041, for information.
