Malvern Library to host book sale, silent auction

-

MALVERN — The Friends of the Malvern-Hot Spring County Library are sponsoring a book sale and silent auction fundraiser from Thursday through noon Sept. 15.

Friends of the Library President Tom Dillard, of Glen Rose, said in a news release that a number of special items have recently been donated to the Friends, and the silent auction will be larger this year. This is the fourth year that the Friends will have a silent auction in addition to the book sale. The silent auction will be available for bidding during the entire sale.

Among the items available at the silent auction will be original artwork, such as one-of-akind paintings and ceramics. The Friends also have a number of items specific to the area, such as musical CDs by Donaldson native and award-winning musician Charley Sandage. A collage of historic postcards depicting Malvern in an earlier era will appeal to local residents. A selection of high-quality Christmas figurines will also be offered, and numerous paintings and other works of art have been donated for the silent auction.

A large number of books have been donated to the Friends during the past few months, and they will be available for $1 per hardback volume and 50 cents for paperbacks. The Friends bookstore has many hardback novels in excellent condition, along with a good selection of children’s books, religious works, audio books, westerns, a richness of biographies and autobiographies and more.

The sale and silent auction will begin with a members-only reception from 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Yearly memberships will be available at the door for $5.

All proceeds go to benefit the library.
