God’s Authority — The Truth of Scripture

There are those individuals today who are quick to say, “Israel will have no part in the coming Kingdom of our Lord.” With this said, what I would like to share with you is the resurrection of King David and his future spiritual life in the kingdom of our Lord Jesus. We are told by Apostle Peter in Acts 2:29, 34, “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the Patriarch David, that he is dead and buried, and his tomb is with us unto this day … For David is not ascended into the heavens.” So where is David? Like so many others, he is waiting for the resurrection. I‘m aware this is not taught, but lets look a little further into Scripture before making a decision.

A prophesy Scripture in Ezekiel 34:22 states, “Therefore I will save My flock and they (Israel) shall no longer be prey and I will judge between sheep and sheep. I will establish one shepherd over them, he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.”

Now it appears that David has arisen from his sleep in Jeremiah 30, verses 8-9, where it is written about the restoration of Israel,

“For it shall come to pass (for all you skeptics), says the Lord of Hosts, that I will break his, (Israel’s) yoke from their neck and burst the bonds; foreigners shall no longer enslave them. But they shall serve the Lord their God, and David their King, whom I, (Jesus) will raise up for them,” chapter 30 verses 8-9.

Yes, in the Kingdom of our Lord, Israel will be His chosen people and the resurrected David will be their governor or king. Let’s look at more scriptural proof. Hosea 3:5, “Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They shall fear the Lord and His goodness in the latter days.”

I hope this helps you to believe the Lord is in charge and He chooses whom He sees fit to fill His purpose and plan. Remember, we are the clay and the Lord is the potter.

We turn to Ezekiel 37 where I have come to understand that this chapter has been misunderstood by many individuals studying the Scriptures. The dry bones referred to in this chapter are the 12 tribes of Israel, lost and dead, spiritually speaking. Why? Because they did not receive the true Messiah, and for this reason, they do not share His Holy Spirit. Just like us today, if we do not have the Holy Spirit living within us, we are dead in the Lord’s sight. For instance, Ephesians 2:1, “You He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins.” Verse 8, “For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourself; it is a gift from God.”

Back to Ezekiel 37, now our Lord Jesus is about to give His Holy Spirit to the whole house of Israel. Verse 14, “I will put My Spirit in you and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land.” Think about it — before we were believers in the atoning power of our Lord’s Holy Spirit, we, too, were lost with no hope. Some will respond that Israel broke the Covenant, the oath of obedience, so therefore they have forfeited their place in salvation. Yes they did, and haven’t we every time we sin? He forgives you and me and He certainly can forgive His chosen people, Israel.

“Israel shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols nor the detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions, but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned and will cleanse them: then they (Israel) shall be My people and I will be their God. David my servant shall be King over them, and they shall all have one shepherd,” Ezekiel 37:23-24. Again some say verse 24 is speaking of Jesus as the Son of David, but David has been resurrected and the Lord Jesus is in His sanctuary. Read Ezekiel 37:28, “The nations shall know that I, the Lord, sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is in their mist forevermore.” Then Chapter 38 takes place in the latter years of Christ’s 1,000-year rule, the millennium. How do I know? Because there is no standing army in Israel who are at complete peace. In verse 11 we read that Gog and their armies come up against the unwalled cities of Israel living in peace. There is no need of bars and gates, because the Lord Jesus is a wall of fire around His people and David their King, see Zechariah 2:5. For more insight, read Revelation 20:8.
