July 18, 1938-Sept. 9, 2018 Mr. Bobby Lee Leathermon (Bob) died peacefully in Hot Springs, Ark., on Sept. 9, 2018, at the age of 80.

Bob was born in Gaston County, N.C., to the late Carl and Bertha Griggs Leatherman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Patsy Walker, Geneva Orren, Betty Jo Hunter, Pat Jenkins and Sara Leatherman; as well as his grandson, Scott Leatherman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Bettie Dunlap, of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; children, Donna Vanderscha­af (Clair), Denise Furr (Neil), Penny Leatherman, Brian Leatherman (Teresa), Susan Huff (Watt); grandchild­ren, Blake Nale, Shelbi Leatherman, Austin Sowers, Grant Furr, Katie Huff; great-grandsons, Eli and Isaac Leatherman; stepsons, Chuck, Gary, Terry and Chip Dunlap; brothers, L.G. and Gary Leatherman; sister, Celia Waynick,

Bob graduated from Lowell High School in Gaston County, N.C., after which time he joined the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served from 1957-1961. He worked for several years in the chemical manufactur­ing industry in Memphis, Tenn., and West Helena, Ark. Bob then ran an automotive business for many years before his retirement to Hot Springs Village, where he was a member of the Glazier Peau Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid and accomplish­ed golfer, winning a number of amateur tournament­s over the years. Bob enjoyed painting, hunting, traveling with his wife Bettie, visiting family and attending Razorback football games. He will be remembered most for his sharp wit, fun-loving nature and zest for life.

The family will receive friends at noon on Saturday, Sept. 15, with memorial service at 1 p.m. at Glazier Peau Missionary Baptist Church in Hot Springs Village, Ark.
