City water main work affects Golf Links, Piper

Golf Links Road, at Longlinks Circle, will be closed to through traffic Monday through Wednesday and the closing of Piper Street, between Malvern Avenue and Glendale Street, has been extended through Friday, both for water main constructi­on.

Signs will be posted, and motorists will need to seek alternate routes during the street closures.

Drug Task Force to meet Tuesday

The 18th Judicial District East Drug Task Force Board of Directors will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Garland County Sheriff’s Department conference room, 525 Ouachita Ave.

SCR Solid Waste board to meet Wednesday

The Southwest Central Regional Solid Waste Management District Board of Directors will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at 1000 Central Ave.

Republican Party hosts breakfast with candidates

The Republican Party of Garland County will host the All-American Pancake Breakfast on Sept. 29 featuring federal, state and local candidates.

The pancake breakfast will be held in the Extension Homemakers Building at the County Fairground­s, 4831 Malvern Ave., from 8-11 a.m. Sept. 29. Admission is $20 in advance, $25 at the door.

“This is one of the greatest opportunit­ies for the residents to hear from the top leaders of our state and county while enjoying an early morning breakfast,” said RPGC Chairman Matt McKee.

All Republican congressio­nal, state and local candidates on the Nov. 6 general election ballot have been invited to speak.
