Hair throws for 4 TDs in Lions road victory

DIERKS — Jessievill­e freshman quarterbac­k Carson Hair more than doubled his season total in touchdowns Friday as the Lions picked up a road victory, 48-13, against Class 2A Dierks.

Hair was 10-for-15 with four touchdowns and no intercepti­ons Friday in just his third senior high game for Jessievill­e (2-1). He is now 29-for-55, 52.7 percent, for 597 yards, seven touchdowns and one intercepio­ns through three games.

The Lions effectivel­y spread the ball around on offense with four different receivers scoring a touchdown Friday and none gaining more than 80 yards. The Lions also ran for 80 yards on 21 carries with five different ball carriers.

Friday’s game was scoreless through the first quarter, but the Lions punished the Outlaws (0-3) for 36 points in the second quarter.

Hair began early in the second quarter with a 19-point touchdown pass to sophomore Charlie Davis. A 27-yard touchdown pass to senior Cage Glisson doubled the lead less than four minutes later.

Jessievill­e scored three times in the final 3:12 of the half. A five-yard touchdown run by junior Austin Carl put the Lions ahead, 22-0.

They quickly regained possession after the kickoff and scored again on a 35-yard pass from Hair to sophomore Landen Daley. Dierks found the end zone in the final minute of the first half, but Davis took the kickoff back 74 yards for a touchdown and a 36-6 halftime lead.

The clock began to run early in the second half under the Arkansas Activities Associatio­n’s mercy rule as Jessievill­e took a 42-6 lead on Hair’s 49-yard touchdown pass to junior Joey Benson.

Jessievill­e added a final touchdown in the fourth quarter on a two-yard touchdown run by junior Cody Curtis.

Davis had four catches for 58 yards, Benson made three receptions for 66 yards and Glisson caught two passes for 80 yards. Carl ran for 31 yards on seven carries and sophomore Andrew Graves added 53 yards on 10 carries.

Junior tiger linebacker B.J. Holloway led the Lions with 12 total tackles and five solo tackles. Senior Jeffrey Scott had 10 total tackles and five solo. Junior defensive linemen Aaron Murders made six solo tackles and seven total, including one for a loss. Junior Gabe Graves made nine tackles and junior Dexton Hilton made eight.

Jessievill­e will begin 3A-4 conference play Friday on the road at Perryville (1-2).
