Evening Lions prepare for annual Pancake Day
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Pancakes dripping in butter and syrup, smoky sausage patties and scrambled eggs will make up the menu for the Hot Springs Village Evening Lions Annual Pancake Day breakfast. Club members are preparing for this event which will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 6 at the Coronado Center. Tickets are $10 per person, $4 for children 9 and under, and are available from any Evening Lions’ Club member and at the door.
It takes weeks of preparation, including the printing and sale of tickets, assigning members to work stations, distributing posters to be displayed in local establishments and churches, constructing signs to be placed along Desoto Boulevard and ordering the ingredients. This is an all-volunteer effort by the club’s members to provide Village residents a “delicious start to their day” while generating funds to support charitable organizations.
Pancake Day is the first of four major fundraisers for the Evening Lions in the club year that began July 1. The generated funds are given to organizations that serve sight and hearing-impaired needy people, some of which live in the Village community, and for the prevention and treatment of diabetes. The Evening Lions Club donated more than $51,000 to charities last year and more than $1,500,000 since its founding in 1972. This is only possible because of the generosity of Village residents that have supported these Lions events.
The Evening Lions are looking for new members who will donate their time serving others and making an important difference in peoples’ lives. Call Membership Director Ed Smith at 214-738-4362 for more information.
