Fall 2018 design trends

-

Fall is our favorite here at Statements! All summer we long for those cooler temps, beautiful foliage and feeling of excitement as we anticipate the upcoming holidays.

We are loving the fall 2018 trends because they happen to be some of our most beloved design staples.

Here are the trends we are seeing from our home furnishings reps and implementing in our own design plans.

• Oversized florals — Floral is back and it’s big this season. Don’t think Laura Ashley from the 90s! These florals are moodier and much deeper in color.

• Velvet — Velvet is a classic. It will never go completely out of style. However, we are seeing sofas and chairs covered in rich tones like blue, purple and even green!

• Bold wallpaper — Wallpaper is back! We are thrilled here at Statements! Do a fun powder bath in a bright pattern or an accent wall in a bedroom.

• Layered bedding — We love layering bedding and adding pattern and texture to a bed. We are using neutral coverlets and front shams. We add color and texture with European shams in the back and a big, daring pattern as a blanket at the foot of the bed.

• Window treatments — Window coverings are a must. Adding window treatments not only helps with light control and privacy, but really softens a room. Drapery add texture and height to any room. Nothing finishes a room quite like it!

As far as design trends go, they are great and give you an idea of what’s available. However, don’t base your entire interior design plan on a trend. Buy what you love and use the things that are precious to you. A good designer can incorporate those items into your room and make it personal and unique. Happy fall!
