Carlton R. Berry
The Rev. Carlton Ray Berry, age 67, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018.
He was born Jan. 1, 1951, in Magnolia, Ark., to the late Tyree and Lessie Cornelious Berry. He was preceded in death by his brother, Nathaniel Berry.
Carlton was a graduate of McNeil High School Class of
1969. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He received a bachelor’s degree in theology from Andersonville College. Carlton was a former member of Bethany Baptist Church in McNeil, Ark., and Greater St. Paul Baptist Church, Hot Springs. He became pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Hot Springs, and served from 1982-1992. He later moved to Mound City, Ill., and became pastor of Zion Traveler Baptist Church, where he served from 1992-2007. Upon relocating back to Hot Springs, Ark., he became a member of Union Baptist Church and served faithfully as an associate minister. In 2012, he accepted a call to become pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, DeAnn/ Hope, Ark.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Minister Brenda Morgan Berry; his children, LaRonda (Edward) Montgomery, Tracy Smith, Willette “Shon” Berry, Ferlanda (Kenneth) Willis, of McKinney, Texas, and Christopher Greene Sr.; siblings, Eddie (Teresa) Berry, Ernest Berry, Joe Arthur (Rebecca) Berry, Johnny (Debrah), Dennis (Bylinda) Berry and Darlene (Wayne) Thompson; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his service dog, Oscar; a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Union Baptist Church, 219 Gulpha St., Hot Springs.
A visitation with an informal service will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept.
21, 2018, at Antioch Baptist Church, Highway 332, Deann/ Hope.
Burial will be Monday, Sept.
24, 2018, in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock, Ark.
The family will be at 201 Charteroak, Hot Springs.
