Arkansas to face Indiana on ESPN

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

FAYETTEVILLE — The Southeastern Conference released its 2018-19 men’s basketball television schedule this week, including new that Arkansas’ home game against Indiana will be broadcast on ESPN (Resort Channel 30).

All conference games are scheduled to be televised. The Razorbacks will also meet Texas on ESPN. The game will be held on Nov. 9 at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, as part of the 2018 Armed Forces Classic.

Arkansas’ matchup against Texas Tech as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge is slated to be shown on ESPN2 (Resort Channel 29) on Jan. 26. The SEC Network (Resort Channel 79) is also scheduled to broadcast home contests against Western Kentucky, Georgia Tech and Texas State.

The ESPN matchup with Indiana, Arkansas’ second game of the Hardwood Showcase, will have a 2:30 p.m. tip. The three non-conference games set to be broadcast on the SEC Network include Western Kentucky at 2:30 pm on Dec. 8, Georgia Tech at

8 pm on Dec. 19 and Texas State at 1 pm on Dec. 22. Arkansas’s lone true road game, at Colorado State on Dec. 5, will start at 7 p.m. and be broadcast on CBS Sports Network (Resort Channel 32).

The SEC is coming off a season that produced a record eight teams playing in the NCAA Tournament and the league held a 6-4 edge in the Big

12/SEC Challenge. This season should be just as promising as four teams have recruiting classes that ranked among the nation’s top 25.

Arkansas played its part in boosting the league’s resume. Last season, the Razorbacks reached the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year — the third time in the last four years — and played in the postseason for the fourth time in the last five years. The Razorbacks defeated Oklahoma State, 66-65, in the 2018 Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Razorbacks’ incoming freshman class was ranked 25th in the nation by ESPN.com.

Forecast prompts cancellation of exhibition with Oklahoma

Fayetteville — Due to the threat of heavy rain in the Norman, Okla., area this weekend, Arkansas’ scheduled fall exhibition with Oklahoma this Saturday has been canceled.

Arkansas announced a replacement game for a later date is in the works, but the opponent has not been determined. Arkansas is still scheduled to play Wichita State at Baum Stadium in Fayetteville on Oct. 5 at 6 p.m.

Admission for the game with the Shockers will be free. The Razorbacks are asking each fan to bring non-perishable food items and new or gently used coats to benefit the Salvation Army and the Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Campus Food Pantry, who will be collecting these items at the stadium gates.

Seating throughout the stadium will be firstcome, first-serve and parking will be free and the Hog Pen will also be open. Gates will open at 5 p.m.

Wichita State, coached by former Arkansas assistant Todd Butler, will be visiting Fayetteville the day before the Razorback football team takes on Alabama. The Shockers, a 35-win team from a year ago, faces Arkansas for only the second time since 2007. The Razorbacks and Shockers faced each other one time during the 2013 NCAA Manhattan (Kansas) Regional and were regular opponents almost every year during the 1990s and early 2000s.

All fall practices through the month of September and October at Baum Stadium are open to the public.
