Artists’ Workshop Gallery announces Portfolio Review Day

-

Artists’ Workshop Gallery, 610-A Central Ave., will hold its first Portfolio Review Day from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

The event is an opportunity for artists to have their work reviewed by members of the AWG with the specific intent to join the cooperative gallery as a member. There are openings for several two-dimensional artists and one three-dimensional (pottery, glass) artist to hang on the display panels.

Artists must register for a specific time for the review. To schedule an appointment, email mpreble@verizon.net. Appointments will be scheduled every 30 minutes beginning at 10:30 a.m. Artists should bring five to six originals and other images as needed to the appointment and should be prepared to discuss their background and art. Upon completion of the review and by approval of the committee, individuals will be invited to complete the formal application and join the gallery. Those who are not approved will be encouraged to reapply at another time.

Members are required to pay a modest onetime administrative joining fee, and a monthly display fee of $55 for a two-panel space; 3D display is also available. A commission of 23 percent is collected by the gallery for all sales. Art is rotated every two months. Members are also required to staff the gallery two days per month, two members each day (Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.).

The AWG is a cooperative art gallery owned and operated by approximately 30 local artists who work in a range of mediums and diverse styles including watercolor, acrylic, pastel, mixed media, ink, photography and more. Three-dimensional work includes pottery, glass, jewelry, sculpture and fabric art, among others. The original art is reasonably priced to encourage a range of collectors and buyers.
