John A. Anderson

John Arthur Anderson, age 69, of Hot Springs, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018.

He was born Nov. 25, 1948, in Leland, Miss., to the late Jessie and Sudie Howard Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Jessie Ree Anderson, Anna Jean Frazier and Willie Lee Anderson.

John was a member of Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church. He exhibited his faith by serving on the trustee ministry, male chorus, and caretaker of the church. His main focus was making sure the grounds were kept up and always looking good.

John worked for the Downtowner Hotel and retired from Stratco after 35-plus years.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Summerville Anderson; his son, Tim (Nikki) Anderson; his daughter, Trina Anderson (Van Counts); his bonus daughter, LaTorea Daniel; sisters, Ora (Reginald) Greene, Ora (Bobo) McCruthchen, Pauline Allen and Cauline Thomas; seven grandchildren; the Summerville family; and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, at St. Mark Baptist Church, 542 Crescent Ave. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, at the funeral home.
