Junior Rams close busy week with conference win

Lakeside’s junior high volleyball team dropped two close matches to start the week, but the Rams responded on Thursday with a three-set victory against Magnolia.

The 25-11, 21-15, 16-6 victory improved Lakeside’s record to 18-11 overall and 5-0 in conference play.

The Rams were led by Libby Divers with four kills and four digs. Mady Davenport, Beau Kuhn and Kaitlyn Threadgill each scored two kills.

Annelise McAlister finished with 11 service points, three aces, seven assists and one kill. Olivia Porter had eight service points and two aces, while Sarah Porter had eight service points and one ace.

Threadgill added 14 digs from the back line. Lakeside will travel to Little Rock Christian on Tuesday for a non-conference match.

The junior Rams kept it close with Lake Hamilton on Tuesday, but they fell on the road,

25-18, 25-20.

Threadgill had a game-high 26 digs to control the back line. Carsen Cordell made seven digs and added three kills. Davenport and Abbie Thomas added two kills apiece.

The junior high team fell in its closest match of the week on Monday. Malvern’s junior Leopards prevailed on their home court, 25-20,

15-25, 15-13.

Thomas had six kills and three blocks, while Davenport added five kills. Threadgill finished with 14 digs and three kills.

* The eighth-grade team won in straight sets Thursday, 25-8, 25-12, against Magnolia to improve to 14-8 and 4-0 in conference matches. The eighth-graders finished the week a perfect

3-0 against area competitio­n.

The Rams were led by the service of Kuhn, who had 11 points and two aces. Olivia Porter had nine service points and two aces.

Lakeside also took home a two-set victory at Lake Hamilton,

25-15, 25-16.

Kuhn recorded 11 service points and two aces, while Threadgill added nine service points and two aces.

The eighth-grade team also earned a two-set victory on Monday at Malvern, 25-10, 25-8.

The Rams were led by Brooklyn Bourland’s 11 service points and three aces. Zoe Stein had seven service points and two aces.
