McDonald’s to host Coffee with a Cop

McDonald’s, 3229 Central Ave., will host Coffee With A Cop in partnershi­p with the Hot Springs Police Department from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. today.

The event is intended to bring local police and citizens together — over coffee — to discuss community issues and build relationsh­ips in a safe environmen­t. All attendees will receive a free small McCafé coffee, courtesy of McDonald’s.

“We are proud to be part of the Hot Springs community and look forward to hosting events, like Coffee With A Cop, that help bring our community together,” said Michael Retzer Jr., McDonald’s owner/operator in Hot Springs. “We hope community members will attend to chat over coffee in a safe and friendly place and get to know our officers face to face.”

Tree removal to close alley to traffic today

Alley 00013, between Alley 00011 and Selma Street, will be closed to through traffic from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. today for tree removal.

Signs will be posted, and motorists will need to seek an alternate route during alley closure.

Election equipment test scheduled next week

The Garland County Election Commission will conduct a public demonstrat­ion of voting equipment and logic and accuracy testing on voting equipment that will be used in the Nov. 6 general election at 9 a.m. Oct. 10 the election commission building, 649A Ouachita Ave.
