Community health, resource fair set for Saturday at center

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Fall Extravaganza Committee of Hot Springs, or FECH Inc., seeks the community’s support for its third annual Fall Extravaganza Community Health & Resource Fair.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Webb Community Center, 127 Pleasant St.

“This annual endeavor for so many to enjoy came by great revelation,” a news release said. Four years ago, David L. Withers, the pastor of Living Waters Church of God in Christ, had a vision for an in-house health fair organized by the nurses’ unit as a “blessing to the community.”

“This health fair would become our first community event called ‘Fall into Wellness’ and because of its success we have been able to partner with many community groups and advocates to enhance the health-related screenings and resources that we provide,” the release said.

Each year, the fair focuses on prevention and related services relevant to the community’s growth and health access. “We offer this free event of health resources to the community in the form of free vaccinations along with a host of wellness checks in an effort to combat disease and poor health literacy,” it said.

Community partners participating this year include Living Waters Church of God in Christ Outreach Ministries, National Park Medical Center, Webb Community Center, Difference Makers of Hot Springs, Diamonds in The Rough of Hot Springs, Arkansas Hospice, Levi Hospital, Walgreen’s, Hot Springs Animal Services, CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs, and Cooperative Christian Ministries & Clinic.
