Crowe, Schmitt lead Seals in Bryant

BRYANT — Hot Springs Family YMCA Seals swim team members Emma Crowe and Aubrey Schmitt each won the high point awards in their divisions on Sept. 22 at the Colonel Robert Smothers Memorial Invitation­al meet at Bryant’s Bishop Aquatic Facility.

Neither Crowe nor Schmitt lost a race during the meet. Crowe won the high point award for the division for girls ages

11-12. She took first place in the 50-yard freestyle, backstroke and breaststro­ke events, as well as the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley.

Schmitt won the 50- and 100-yard breaststro­ke events, 50-yard backstroke,

50-yard butterfly and the 200-yard individual medley in the division for girls ages 8 and younger. Lily Cook placed first in the 100-yard backstroke in the same division. Cook also placed second in the 50-yard backstroke, 50- and 100yard breaststro­ke events and the individual medley behind Schmitt.

Senior division swimmers Nicole Burek and Mason Vondenstei­n also won several races during the meet.

Burek competed in the division for girls ages 15-18, winning the 50- and 100yard breaststro­ke events, as well as the

200-yard individual medley. She also placed second in the 50- and 100-yard butterfly events.

Emma Campas placed third in the

100-backstroke in the same division. She earned fourth place in the 50- and 100yard freestyle races and sixth place in the

50-yard butterfly.

Aly Navarro earned sixth place in the division’s 50-yard backstroke and breaststro­ke events. She finished eighth in the 50-yard freestyle and the 50-yard butterfly.

Vondenstei­n took first in the boys’

15-18 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. He also finished second in the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard individual medley.

Hunter Speas placed fourth in the division’s 50-yard breaststro­ke. He finished eighth in the 100-yard breaststro­ke and the 200-yard freestyle.

Luke Vondenstei­n placed second in several events in the division for boys ages 11-12. He was the runner-up in the

50-yard freestyle and breaststro­ke events,

100-yard breaststro­ke and the individual medley. He also earned third place in the

200-yard freestyle.

Noah Robnett earned second place in the division’s 50-yard butterfly. He finished third in the 50-yard backstroke,

50-yard breaststro­ke and 100-yard freestyle to go with a fourth-place time in the

200-yard freestyle.

Peyton Speas was two spots behind Robnett for fourth place in the 50-yard freestyle. He also placed fifth in the 100yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle and 50yard backstroke to go with a sixth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle.

Sawyer Simpson earned second place in the 50-yard breaststro­ke and 500-yard freestyle in the boys’ division for ages

13-14. He was third in the 100-yard breaststro­ke, fifth in the 200-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle.

Audrey Simons earned several runner-up finishes in the division for girls ages 9-10. She was the runner-up in the

100-yard backstroke, 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard freestyle. She finished third in the 50-yard butterfly and fourth in the 50-yard breaststro­ke.

Lily Shields took fourth place in the

100-yard freestyle in the same division. She placed fifth in the 50-yard butterfly, sixth in the 50-yard backstroke and sixth in the 50-yard breaststro­ke. Bianca Navarro added a fifth-place finish in the

100-yard freestyle and seventh place in the 50-yard breaststro­ke.

Claire Hudnell finished in third place in the 500-yard freestyle of the girls’ 1314 division. She also placed eighth in the

100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard freestyle. Amanda Navarro was fifth in the 50-yard butterfly and seventh in both the 50-yard backstroke and breaststro­ke events.
