Lorrayne A. Mathews, 101, passed away Sept. 30, 2018.

She was born Sept. 11, 1917, on a farm in Prairie du Sac, Wis., to the late Frank and Lillian Soelle.

She was predecease­d by Vincent R. Mathews, whom she married in 1938, and is survived by daughter, Barbara Miller, of Bremerton, Wash.; son, Steven C. Mathews (Sherry), of Austin, Texas; niece, Sally Kotsonis (Frank), of Brookfield, Wis.; nephew, Timothy Mather (Christy), of Cherry Hills Village, Colo.; and niece, Nell Hacker (Max), of Wauzata, Minn.; three grandchild­ren, Aaron Forgey (Amber), Justin Forgey (Jennifer) and Adriane Dorsey (Holly); and five great-grandchild­ren, Autumn, Gunnar, Lillian, Bennett and Austin.

A graduate of Prairie du Sac High School and Madison Business College, she worked as librarian and occasional writer for the Waukesha Daily Freeman, Waukesha, Wis., for 23 years and retired to Hot Springs Village, Ark., in 1982. She was employed there as a columnist for the Village La Villa News, was a member of the Village Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She worked as a volunteer at the West Gate, was a member of the POA Social and Cultural Committee, the Village Players and the Village Lioness Club.

Since 2009, she has resided in Austin, Texas.
