All shapes, sizes of sin

-

Dear editor:

This letter is in response to Mr. Alexander (“Trump news no surprise,” 10-7-18):

Contrary to your belief, Mr. Alexander, I do not condone President Trump’s crude behavior or forms of speech, but we all have — at one time or another — committed acts we would not want our dearest friends or relatives to know about, or our “colorful” words, either in secret or openly, that would cause a minister to blush.

If you say you have never used curse words, have never lied, have never cheated on your finances, or have never been an adulterer — even in your mind — the Bible says you are a liar. Sin comes in all shapes and sizes!

Whatever sins Mr. Trump may or may not have committed will be heard before the great white throne judgment, and you, The Washington Post, The New York Times, or any other person or media has been given the authority from on high to be judge, jury and executioner! Since you are so vehemently against President Trump, I suggest that you vote your conscience and choice in 2020.

Yes, Mr. Alexander, I do have a few biblical verses in mind, but for you only:

“Thou shalt not commit adultery” (Exodus 20:14). Jesus said in Matthew 5:28, “But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery already in his heart.”

“Thou shalt not steal” (Exodus 20:15). Have you ever kept the 10 percent of your income that belongs to God (see Malachi 3:8)?

“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor” (Exodus 20:16). This includes hearsay, innuendo, unsubstantiated reporting.

“Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned” (Luke 6:37).

“He that is without sin … let him … cast a stone. … ” (John 8:7).

“Let every soul be subject unto higher powers (of human government), for there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” (Romans 13:1). Donald Cunningham Hot Springs
