Eva J. Goings
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Mrs. Eva Joanna Goings, of Hot Springs Village, departed this life on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a brief and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on July 1, 1936.
On April 15, 1956, Jo married Cecil Goings. In 1970, they made their home in Hot Springs Village, where they raised their family and were active and beloved members of their church and community. Jo loved the Lord, which was evidenced by her kindness and unconditional love of family and friends. Jo firmly believed that everyone deserves to be loved, forgiveness is a must, and by all means, hold no grudges. She was a wonderful example of a Christian wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Jo’s greatest Earthly love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all adored the beautiful lady they called Nana, and they knew they were adored by her.
Jo will forever be remembered for her kind Christian spirit, her beautiful smile and twinkle in her eyes, her ability to keep everyone laughing, and her great love of family and friends.
Her daughter, Tammy Goings Paxton, her parents, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Jo is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Cecil Goings, of Hot Springs Village; three children, Cindy Goings Evins (Shawn), of Bentonville, Kelli Goings (Henry), of Conway, and Shane Goings (Cheyenne), of Hot Springs Village; 14 grandchildren and
12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Bill Hughes and wife, Mary Jo, and Jack Hughes, both of Florida, and a host of family and a lifetime of friends.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Caruth Village Funeral Home in Hot Springs Village.
Celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Friday at Village Church of Christ with Mr. David Tappe officiating.
