Not our America

Dear editor:

The Far Right has won another country to endorse their ideology. Israel now embraces the belief that dissension is to be outlawed against any act the government chooses to impose. Just as Hitler imposed his beliefs on the Jews in Germany, Israel now imposes the same rules on the Palestinians.

“Do as I say without complaint or die.” No one will be allowed to complain or protest against anything Israel demands of those who aren’t Jewish. History is not only repeating itself, it’s repeating the worst of itself. Demanding that anyone accept without complaint any and ALL rules and laws is tyrannical. And by all human rights inhumane and illegal.

This philosophy is spreading around the world and is being used by the Trump administration to lock into our mindset the same principles. Denying transgender people the right to be accepted as “human” and writing the law to recognize only those born with a penis or vagina as male or female denies the reality that sex is more than genitalia.

This is reducing our country to the worst in history because we have the resources to force the world into submission if anyone disagrees. Trump calls the protestors in America “mobs.” This is not the America I was raised in and grew up to respect. This is not what our founding fathers believed in when they made a constitution to be flexible and durable by recognizing that nothing is cast in cement when it comes to governing except through tyranny.

Nov. 6, 2018, will determine whether we are a country of inclusion or a country run by a tyrant who believes his skin color makes him “smart.” Judy Ladd Hot Springs
