Mary Idalou (Lou) Hull Boyd passed peacefully Nov. 4, 2018. She was born Jan. 21, 1927, in Hot Springs, to the late Leland and Dorris Elleman Hull. Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Wayne Boyd.

After graduating from Hot Springs High in 1944, she attended Texas State College for Women in Denton and received her bachelor of science degree in medical technology from the University of Indiana. Following college, she was employed at the University Hospital in Oklahoma City. During her years in Oklahoma, Lou was a member of Service League of Bartlesvil­le, YWCA board, mental health board, and the president of Washington County Medical Auxiliary.

Lou and Wayne moved to Hot Springs in 1980. Just as active in Arkansas as she was in Oklahoma, Lou was a member of the Poets Roundtable of Hot Springs, Roundtable Poets of Arkansas, Forum Club, and Garland County Historical Society.

Lou was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church where she was a lifetime member of the board of stewards.

She will be remembered by her daughter, Dr. Karen Worley of Little Rock; sons, Reed (Lise) Boyd of Midland, Texas, and Mark Boyd of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchild­ren, Travis (Tiff) Tyler, Kelsey Worley, Kaitlin (Alan)Strain, Ryan Boyd, Jake Boyd, and Andrea Boyd; and great-grandchild­ren, Thomas Strain, Ivy Worley, Sparrow Strain, and MaKayla Reeves.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1100 Central Ave., Hot Springs, Arkansas, 71901.

A Memorial Service at First United Methodist Church will be held at 11 a.m. Friday.
