City engineer to address neighborhood association
Hot Springs City Engineer Gary Carnahan will be the guest speaker at a special meeting of Whittington Valley Neighborhood Association at 6:30 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, 213 Whittington Ave.
Light refreshments will be served. The meeting is open to the public. Call WVNA President Mark A. Toth at 623-4283 for more information. Carnahan will present preliminary designs for road, sidewalk and bike path improvements along Whittington Avenue that the city intends to complete in 2019. Utilizing moneys from the Federal Land Access Program, the city of Hot Springs proposes to complete more than $850,000 in infrastructure improvements in the Whittington Valley, the association said in a news release.
Plans call for the installation of safe pedestrian and bicycle connections running the full length of Whittington Avenue, from the intersection with Central and Park Avenues to Baseball Trail Park. Traffic calming elements, intended to reduce vehicle speed, are also included among the proposed improvements.
This meeting will afford Valley residents, stakeholders and the general public the opportunity to comment on and advance revisions to the proposed improvements before the design plan is finalized.
Other topics to be discussed include planning for the Association’s upcoming Christmas party.
