Ronald Lee Twyford died Nov. 10, 2018, following a lengthy fight with Progressiv­e Supranucle­ar Palsy.

Born Feb. 8, 1943, to the late Evert and Audrey Twyford, Ronnie graduated from Searcy High School, and attended Arkansas Tech University, before graduating from the University of Arkansas with a degree in banking and finance, and later earned his MBA from Henderson State University. He began his career at National Bank of Commerce in Pine Bluff, moving later to Crossett and Fordyce. In 1983, Ronnie moved to Hot Springs. In 1997, he assisted in the creation of Alliance Bank, which later became part of the Simmons Bank system. Ronnie retired in 2007 from Simmons Bank of Hot Springs.

Ronnie loved any Razorback sport, playing softball and running. A lifetime Methodist, he was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was devoted to God and his family, and loved being Pop to his grandchild­ren.

He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Julie; son, Mark and wife Holly, of Hot Springs; daughter, Karen Rath and husband Bill, of Bixby, Okla.; and grandchild­ren, Caroline, Faith, Lindsey, Leah and Caleb. He is also survived by his brothers, Terry and Lisa, of Wynne, and Don and Donna, of Arkadelphi­a; his mother-in-law, Helen Carlisle, of Memphis; several nieces and nephews and other extended family.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff and caregivers of Arkansas Hospice and Home Instead.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Moseley and Rev. David Wilson.
