Residentia­l and commercial trash collection are the responsibi­lities of the Solid Waste Department. The department also handles the disposal of appliances and other bulky items for residentia­l customers through a program known as Clean, Attractive Property Service (CAPS). It lends support to organized neighborho­od cleanup efforts and is the site of a regional recycling center.

Last week the Earth Angels of Hot Springs recycled:

• 139 pounds — Aluminum cans.

• 3,097 pounds — Newspaper.

• 715 pounds — Corrugated cardboard.

• 478 pounds — Plastic No. 1 and No. 2.

• 36,320 pounds — Yard waste.

Commercial cardboard recycling

• 55,720 pounds — Commercial cardboard.

A total of 48.23 tons of recyclable materials were kept out of the landfill.

• Tuesday — James/Millcreek.

• Wednesday — Park Avenue Magnolia/Circle Drive.

• Thursday — Oaklawn Park/Pine Meadows.

• Friday — Whittingto­n/Quapaw — Prospect.
