Handmade Holiday Shop pops up again
Looking for something a little more unique for Christmas presents this year? The Handmade Holiday Shop may be the answer.
Located in the Hot Springs Mall this year, the store is a pop-up event that opens every holiday season. This is the seventh year the store has opened, and each year it has been in a new location. Past locations include the Hale Bath House and the Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa.
The shop sells one-of-a-kind artwork by local artists. This year, the shop has 13 contributing artists, including three who are new to the shop this year.
The store offers a variety of gift ideas, ranging from paintings to hand-carved wood pendants to pottery infused with horse hair.
“It’s different,” said one of the artists, Roxanne Butterfield. She said the shop wants to allow people access to items that they don’t normally see.
Butterfield said they are happy to bring the shop to the Hot Springs Mall, noting it is a happy place “especially when kids see Santa Claus.”
Periodically, the various artists will demonstrate their work so one might see Butterfield making stained glass ornaments at the shop one day.
Having been around for over half a decade, Butterfield said the shop has attained a large following of repeat customers. One happy customer was Sarah Berig. Calling the items at the shop amazing and unique, Berig said she is glad she stopped there.
“We’ve been in here for half an hour and we don’t want to leave … more people should come here,” Berig said.
Other artists participating this year include Lucy Bright, Corina Fedorowicz, Kristin Grant, Norma Griffin, Amelia Houser, Cynthia Keith, Laura Meyers, Josephine Ruhsam, Jennifer Willis Seward and Patti Shaw.
The shop opened on Black Friday and will be open from
11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday until Christmas Eve. On Dec. 7, the shop will host a Gallery Walk event from
5 to 8 p.m. and will hold a customers’ day event from 11 a.m. to
8 p.m. on Dec. 15.
