Undefeated Lady Rams win second trophy

FORDYCE — Lakeside’s senior high girls’ basketball team won its second tournament of the season on Saturday with a fourth win in six days.

The Lady Rams (8-0) remained undefeated with a 55-38 victory over Smackover (2-5) in the final of Fordyce’s tournament. Junior guard Chloe Porter led the team with 17 points, five steals and three assists.

“Chloe was very aggressive in the third quarter,” said Lakeside head girls’ basketball coach Chris Brock. “She ignited us.”

The team’s leading scorer, senior Ashton Patrick, had 16 points and three rebounds, while fellow senior Lindsey Davis added 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Senior forward Belle Nielson finished with six points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Adachi Igbokidi contribute­d four points and seven rebounds.

“Our girls competed hard this week in all four games,” Brock said. “We are growing, but still have a lot to work on.”

Lakeside began the tournament on Monday with a 51-23 win over Bearden (1-2). The Lady Rams, who also won the Lakeside Classic on their home court to start the season, advanced to Saturday’s final by defeating Camden Fairview (4-2), 34-31, on Wednesday.

A road game greeted the team on Friday before the Fordyce final. Lakeside earned a 49-43 win at Greenbrier (1-5).

Patrick led the way with 15 points and three steals. “I thought this was Ashton’s best overall game of

the year,” Brock said. “She was consistent and aggressive the entire game.”

Porter added 13 points and three rebounds.

“Chloe hit two huge threes at key points,” Brock said. “I was happy to see her be aggressive in clutch situations.”

Igbokidi continued her work inside with eight points and 12 rebounds.

“There were times that Adachi was dominating the boards inside,” Brock said. “I am really proud of her.”

Senior forward Miller Dickeron had four points and seven rebounds, Davis scored four points and grabbed three rebounds, sophomore guard Erika Bittinger made seven assists and sophomore forward Maddie Trusty added five rebounds.

“Maddie had a huge and-one to put us up by nine points late in the game,” Brock said.

Lakeside is scheduled for a home game against Mena (2-3) on Tuesday and a road game at Prescott (2-3) on Dec. 11 before resuming play after the holiday break on Dec. 27 against Mount Ida (2-1) in the Spa City Shootout at Bank OZK Arena.
