-

PEARCY — Lake Hamilton’s junior high basketball teams each won their games on Monday as Mount St. Mary Academy and Little Rock Catholic visited Wolf Arena.

The junior Lady Wolves (6-2) cruised to a 45-19 victory as Ginny Higginbotham and Hayleigh Wyrick led all scorers with 15 points each. Higginbotham added five assists and Wyrick had seven rebounds.

Lake Hamilton led, 11-6, after the opening quarter and carried a 27-8 advantage into the second half. The score was 35-14 to start the fourth quarter.

“Each of the girls on this team brings something special, whether it is their attitude, effort, work ethic, ability, etc.,” said Lake Hamilton junior high girls’ coach Maribeth Richards. “As a whole group, we’ve been figuring out roles on the team for this year.

“We have two returning starters that have been on the conference championship teams the past two years. Those two, Hayleigh and Ginny, bring a lot of game experience and knowledge. Beyond that, we don’t have a ton of experience, but these girls are learning the game every day. They make it fun to come in to practice because they’re so hungry to get better.”

Audri Winfrey added five points and Devin Humphries scored four points. Annabelle Coppedge and Olivia Pielemeier each finished with three points.

Kristen Brady led Mount St. Mary with 10 points.

Boys

Gavin Robbins led the junior Wolves with 12 points as Lake Hamilton defeated Little Rock Catholic, 44-30.

Chase Jessup and Zac Pennington scored nine points apiece. Josh Parish finished with eight points.
