TOLEDO, Ohio — Irving Milton Fort, 79, of Toledo, Ohio, departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018.

Irving was born Feb. 26, 1939, to the late Fredrick G. and Virgie Harris-Fort in Hot Springs, Ark.

He was united in Holy matrimony to Elaine Byrd-Fort on Nov. 23, 1973. Irving was “A very proud graduate of the Hot Springs Historic Langston High School Class of 1956 — Go Bulldogs!” He always enjoyed returning home to the Langston Class Reunions, only being able to attend his last reunion five years ago.

Irving was a member of New Light Baptist Church, in Toledo, Ohio, where he served on the usher board. He retired from Ottawa Hills High School and St. Michaels in the Hills Church after working 30-plus years of service at both.

He is preceded in death by his aforementi­oned parents; one sister, Ida V. Fort-Thompson; three brothers: Elmore Ammons, Joe Fort Sr. and Robert R. Fort Sr.; nephew, Ronnie Shead; and a sister-in-law, Gerri Fort.

He was always the life of any event. He loved bowling, golf and was an all-around sportsman. He was our family “Superman.”

He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Coretta Winters and Melinda Fort, both of Toledo, Ohio; two sons, Erving Fort and Aaron Fort, both of Toledo, Ohio; one sister: Dorothy L. Shead, of Los Angeles, Calif.; three brothers: Fredrick Fort, of Oakland, Calif., William Fort, of Hot Springs, Ark., and Kenneth (Yvonne) Fort, of Baton Rouge, La.; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at New Light Baptist Church, 1741 Cone St., Toledo, Ohio, at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, with Pastor G.O. Fletcher officiatin­g.
