Organizations needed to sponsor birthday parties

Veteran Administration Voluntary Services for Central Arkansas has asked service organizations to sponsor a birthday party each month at the Eugene Towbin VA Medical Center’s Community Living Center at Fort Roots in North Little Rock.

The party would celebrate the birthdays of the month for those veterans residing in the CLC unit. Organizations would choose the month to host.

“A CLC used to be called a VA nursing home. Veterans may stay for a short time or, in rare instances, for the rest of their life. It is a place where veterans can receive nursing home level of care,” a news release said.

“The mission of a Community Living Center is to restore each veteran to his or her highest level of well-being. It is also to prevent declines in health and to provide comfort at the end of life,” it said.

Call Michael R. Dobbs, chief of Voluntary Services, Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, at 501-257-3293 for more information about sponsoring a birthday party.
