LH track teams take 2nd, 4th at state indoor meet
FAYETTEVILLE — Lake Hamilton’s boys’ track and field team took second place on Saturday as one of the clear top two teams in the Class 5A state indoor track meet.
The 5A-6A State Indoor championship meet was held Saturday at the University of Arkansas’ Randal Tyson Track Center. Vilonia easily won the 5A competition with 133.5 points.
Lake Hamilton took second place with 83 points, but Nettleton was a distant third with
35.5 points. Lakeside earned
30.5 points to place seventh out of the 19 teams.
Sylvan Hills won the girls’ competition with 109 points. Sheridan placed second with
90 points and Vilonia was third with 67.
Lake Hamilton earned 56 points to finish in fourth place. Lakeside was eighth with 27 points.
Georgia signee Haze Farmer gave Lake Hamilton an early 10 points with a meet-high 16-6 feet jump in the pole vault. John Thomas Bardwell and Hunter Johnson took third and fourth place, respectively, with jumps of 14-6.
Little Rock signee Colby Swecker earned 10 points in the 800-meter run. He took
first place with a time of 1:57.37.
Nick Lewis was second for Vilonia at 2:03.41, while Lakeside’s William Mims placed third at 2:04.07. Lake Hamilton’s Skylar Davis-Weldon finished fourth at
2:06.41.
Farmer and Swecker helped the Wolves in their only other first-place finish. They ran with Levi Stratton and Cole Whisenhunt to a time of 3:34.12 in the
4x400-meter relay to end the meet. Lakeside placed second in the relay. Jesus Damian, Eayn Shelley, Taylor Gilham and Mims ran a time of
3:43.20.
Stratton, Adam Albrecht, Colby Swecker and William Swecker ran a second-place time of 8:32.12 in the 4x800-meter relay. Omar Ramos ran a third-place time of 10:32.38 in the 3200-meter run and William Swecker was fourth in the 1600-meter run at 4:55.62.
Braden Frederick gave the Wolves six points in the shot put with a throw of 43-10. Ray Hamp was fourth at 42-9.
Gilham gave the Rams six points with a jump of 19-7 for third place in the long jump. Layne Warrick was sixth at 19-0. Gilham also tied for sixth in the high jump at 5-8.
Lakeside’s Jacob Brown was sixth in the triple jump at 38-7, Damian was sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.66 and Shelley ran a seventh-place time of 23.77 in the 200-meter dash. Whisenhunt earned eighth place in the 400-meter dash at 56.04.
Arkansas signee Edie Murray jumped 12-0 for 10 points in the girls’ pole vault. Teammate Mahayla Swayze was fourth at 9-6, while Lakeside’s Emilee Bates earned fifth place at 8-6.
Raegan Hickam jumped 33-3.5 in the triple jump to take second place. Lexi Janske was fifth at 32-1.5.
Jessica Jennings, Meighan Mears, Anacaren Ramos and Maylin Reyes ran a third-place time of 10:47.24 in the 4x800-meter relay. Hope Drake, Emma Belic, Natalie Jennings and McKaila Davis ran a time of 11:05.37 for Lakeside to finish fourth.
Natalie Jennings took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:37.68. Reyes finished fifth in 2:40.70.
Natalie Jennings also took fourth place in the
3200-meter run at 12:50.06. She was followed by Mears in fifth at 13:05.42 and Jessica Jennings in sixth at 13:13.03.
Jenny Peake jumped 4-10 in the high jump to give the Lady Wolves five points. The Lady Rams got a point in the event from Jaiden Drake, who jumped
4-2 for eighth place.
Baylee Jenkins ran the 400-meter dash in 1:04.46 for sixth place. She was followed by Maggie Dickerson in seventh place for Lakeside at 1:05.62. Jenkins also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash in 28.53.
Bethany Weatherspoon gave Lakeside two points with a seventh-place time of 11.21 in the 60-meter hurdles.
Lake Hamilton finished sixth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:36.39. Dickerson, Natalie Jennings, Alexis Drake and La’Shiya Martin ran a time of 4:40.55 to place seventh.
