Support for the wall

-

I think the Democrats are going wild with joy over the end of this first government shutdown. I do believe we will see President Trump come to a new one on Feb. 15. Not that I want to see people without jobs or paychecks, visiting food banks and getting donations to keep their lights on, all because we have politicians that can’t sit down as adults and resolve the problems facing our country.

I am writing to our elected congressmen of Arkansas, those of the House of Representatives Rick Crawford of District 1; French Hill of District 2; Steve Womack of District 3 and Bruce Westerman of District 4, and Senators Tom Cotton and John Boozman. By the way, did anyone notice that French Hill gave up his salary while the shut down was taking place? I also plan to send a letter to President Trump, because I do want the funding for the border wall/fence to go forward.

This wall was voted on by many of the Democrat party during 2006, and President George W. Bush signed it into law, yet where is this fence? Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Chuck Schumer, Diane Feinstein and many other Democrats said plenty about getting the wall built in 2006, yet even President Obama never funded the wall, and he had eight years to build it.

While many people feel that Speaker Pelosi has won the battle, the fat lady hasn’t sung yet. I, personally feel the American people have been sold a spoiled bag of goods from the Democrats. The Speaker needs to resign or be voted out for the injustice that she has allowed to go on during this shutdown. How many of Congress went on a vacation with lobbyists and how many got to keep their salaries while regular hard working Americans did without? And what would have happened if those working without a paycheck hadn’t shown up?

Write your congressmen folks, we pay their salary and if anyone should have to do without, let it be Congress, not the backbone of America. Remember, every dollar they spend is your tax dollars, government has no money without the hardworking Americans and legal immigrants. L.J. Gibson Hot Springs
