Vera Louise Cliburn Myers passed away Feb. 5, 2019.

Born on Aug. 25, 1933, to Fred Ellis Cliburn and Vera Catherine Bearden Cliburn in Hazlehurst, Miss., she was known to friends and family as Louise.

After graduating from high school, Louise worked as secretary to the general manager of the local branch of Edward Hyman Co. in Hazlehurst, Miss.

In June 1950, she met her future husband while visiting her brother in Imperial Beach, Calif. On July 5, 1953, in National City, Calif., she married Petty Officer

2nd Class Beauford E. Myers. In

1955, they were transferre­d to Guantanamo Naval Station in Cuba, later being transferre­d to Norfolk, Va., in November 1956.

While in Norfolk, she was employed by WAVY-TV/Radio, the NBC affiliate. In 1960, they were transferre­d back to San Diego, where she worked as traffic director at KFSD-TV, later known as KOGO-TV.

She resigned from KOGO on Dec. 31, 1967, to prepare for her first child, Damon Lewis Myers, born Feb. 14, 1968. Her second child, John (Jack) David Myers, was born Sept. 8, 1971.

On Aug. 1, 1974, her husband retired from the Navy as lieutenant commander. They moved to Hot Springs, Ark., in 1976, where they would later work together at Lakeside School District.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her older brother, Edwin Cliburn; her nephews, Patrick Cliburn and Bob Cliburn.

Survivors include her husband, Beau; sons, Damon and Jack; her brother, Fred Cliburn; her niece, Ann Nareau; and nephews, Mark and Billy Cliburn.

At her request, there will be no services. Burial is private.
