Hot Springs Funeral Home

-

Hot Springs Funeral Home, 1017 Central Ave., is locally owned and operated, and is located in the oldest funeral home building in Hot Springs.

Gross Funeral Home was originally located in the building until 1983, when Hot Springs Funeral Home began.

In January 2004, the funeral home was purchased by Ann C. Loy.

“We offer many options and personalized services to our clients at fair prices. From cremation services to traditional burial services and any special requests from the family of the deceased,” Loy says.

“We can help you plan a funeral or memorial service with meaning and purpose at an affordable price, whether at the time of need or with advanced planning,” she said.

“The ability to work with our families, meeting each family’s need in order to best honor their loved one,” has made the business a success, Loy says.

It is “service with compassion,” she adds. The staff includes funeral directors Lewis P. “Buddy” Johnson, Jim Shelor, Rhonda Clenney, Terrie Clift, and Zac Breshears.

Loy first began work at the funeral home on Oct. 31, 1991, when she observed her first embalming session. Awestruck over the experience, she came back the next day, and the next day, and the next.

That fascination caught the eye of Boyd Heath, state inspector of the Arkansas Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors, who told Loy she should pursue an apprenticeship and turn her curiosity into a career. The funeral home agreed, allowing her to work part-time to gain experience toward her funeral director certification.

She worked the first year for free.

In May 1997, after almost six years of personal trials that included the loss of her mother, Loy graduated mortuary school with a 4.0 grade-point average — at the top of her class.

“When you turn to Hot Springs Funeral Home, you get so much more than a wide selection of dignified services and affordable caskets — you get people you can trust,” she said.

“You’ll be able to choose the perfect way to remember your loved one. And you’ll know that your family will be treated with the utmost care, concern and compassion,” Loy says.

“That’s the difference you’ll experience with the caring professionals at Hot Springs Funeral Home.”
