Garrett Woods Senior Living
‘Welcome Home’
Garrett Woods Senior Living is celebrating over 15 years of serving seniors in the Hot Springs area.
Located at 142 Brighton Terrace, right off Central Avenue, Garrett Woods sits on a beautifully landscaped, parklike area just minutes from doctor’s offices, Hot Springs Mall, restaurants and banks. Just recently renovated, Garrett Woods offers comfortable and affordable independent and assisted living.
Nina Alter, veteran senior housing director, leads a team of very dedicated professionals in providing what many residents describe as a feeling of “Welcome Home.”
Petronella Giurgea, director of housekeeping, has over 16 years of experience in senior housing and is known for her perfectionist attitude when it comes to keeping apartments and the community sparkling. She leads a team of housekeepers who take pride in their work.
Nina Alter has over 35 years of experience in senior housing management. She has served as the assisted living representative of the Health Services Commission under four governors and been active in state and local senior housing networks.
Glenda Griffin, business office manager, has 15 years of experience in medical office administration. Glenda helps residents with long-term care insurance claims and is responsible for billing and human resources.
Deb Green, activities director, has been with Garrett Woods for many years. She keeps residents busy with exercise, arts and crafts, outings and plans special activities for every holiday.
Joe Scott is the food service director. Joe has several years’ experience in food service. His team of cooks and dining room attendants work extremely hard to provide nourishing and comforting food for residents. He is enrolled in the certified dietary manager’s program and regularly attends ongoing training.
Lucas Rhodes is responsible for maintenance and building operations. He joined Garrett Woods in 2018 and brings 15 years’ experience in assisted living and independent living building management. Lucas is also a licensed assisted living administrator.
Garrett Woods Independent Living offers one bedroom and two bedroom apartments with the option of full kitchens if residents want to cook. Many two bedroom apartments have balcony/patios. Low entry showers provide safety and security. Monthly fees cover three meals a day, all utilities except phone service, weekly housekeeping and transportation.
The newly decorated game room invites residents to shoot a game of pool or watch a ballgame on a big-screen television. The library has card tables and a modern supply of books, including large print. There are numerous
groups that play cards regularly.
“Today’s seniors want the option of living as independently as possible with the option of having assistance when needed,” Alter said.
Garrett Woods offers assisted living with nursing service. Teresa Weaver, LPN, serves as director of nursing over an experienced and dedicated team of nurses and certified nurses aides. Medication administration, bathing, dressing and personal laundry complement the full array of activities offered daily.
In addition to the amenities offered in independent and assisted living, we offer the option of on-site podiatrist, on-site X-ray and dental services. Charles Utt, bus driver, has been with Garrett Woods for nine years and serves the residents with efficiency and caring.
“Charles is just a shining example of everything that makes Garrett Woods a comforting place to live,” Alter said.
