Local students named to Lyon dean’s list

Lyon College recently announced that Stanley Rousseau, of Hot Springs, and Madisson Williams, of Pearcy, were among the students named to its spring 2019 dean’s list.

To be on the dean’s list, a student must earn a 3.75 or higher grade point average and take a minimum of 12 credit hours that semester.

Local student earns university award

WILLIMANTI­C, Conn. — More than 200 Eastern Connecticu­t State University students of African, Latino, Asian and Native American descent were honored on May 9 at the 2019 Inclusive Excellence Awards.

The honorees included Johana Vazquez, of Hot Springs, who majors in communicat­ion. Vazquez received an Academic Excellence Award.

All students who were honored achieved an overall gradepoint average of at least 3.5.

Local students garner engineerin­g awards

LITTLE ROCK — The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s George W. Donaghey College of Engineerin­g and Informatio­n Technology held its annual awards ceremony on May 3, where college students were recognized for their achievemen­ts over the 2018-19 academic year.

Local students who were honored include Jacob Jackson, of Malvern, who was recognized with the second place EIT Undergradu­ate Award, and Brock Butler, of Hot Springs, who was recognized with the Depart

ment of Informatio­n Science Outstandin­g Senior Award.

Local student named to Becker College dean’s list

WORCESTER, Mass. — Sean Wolstenhol­me, of Hot Springs, was recently named to the Becker College dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester. Wolstenhol­me is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interactiv­e Media Design, Game Design Concentrat­ion.

The dean’s list recognizes all full-time students whose term grade-point average is 3.50 or higher with no grade below a B-minus and no incomplete­s, withdrawal­s or failing grades.

Local student named Honors College Fellow

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Thomas Hollis, of Hot Springs, has been named a 2019 Honors College Fellow by the University of Arkansas Honors College.

Hollis is one of 80 students chosen to receive a

$72,000 fellowship to cover four years of academic expenses from a pool of over

1,000 applicants.

Hollis is the son of Tom and Doanh Hollis. The recent Lakeside High School graduate will attend the University of Arkansas starting in the fall 2019 semester and is currently an undeclared major.

Southern Arkansas University recently announced the names of students named to the dean’s list and president’s list.

Students named to the dean’s list earned at least a 3.5 gradepoint average or higher for the spring 2019 semester.

LITTLE ROCK — The University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law recently announced its spring 2019 graduates.

UALR honored its Bowen graduates during a May 11 hooding ceremony at the Jack Stephens Center on the UA Little Rock campus.
