Martha J. Maner

-

Martha Jane Maner was born on June 19, 1946, and burst into heaven in the early hours of July 2, 2019. She was the youngest of eight children, born to Jeff and Willie Mae Maner.

Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Bigness; and brothers, Alford, Elmer, John, George, Vern and Clifford; and other family members. She is survived by many nephews and nieces, and their children; as well as a host of friends who considered Martha to be family. Specifically, her three godchildren, Shannon Lucas Coulter, Elizabeth Gates and Benjamin Gates; and two grand-godchildren, Emily Coulter and Chad Coulter.

Martha enjoyed working, learning and organizing. During her career she was a legal secretary, government employee, church office manager, hospital transcriptionist and office manager.

Besides loving her family, Martha loved people and was blessed with a family of friends throughout her life. She left these words, “Thank you for helping me become the woman I am, and didn’t we have wonderful times together. And didn’t we laugh a lot with the joy of being together. Oh, let’s not forget the most important thing that made it so special, the joy of knowing Jesus as Lord!”

Martha asked Jesus to become her Lord and Savior at the age of 12 and it was then she knew heaven was her destination. Dying was not a scary event for her, yet at the same time, she loved living life. She often wondered, when she arrived in heaven, if God would allow her to continue helping those she loved here on earth. She wrote, “The only thing about dying is I can’t imagine being without you, the ones I love so much.” Her biggest hope was as we looked back on her life, her legacy would be how much she loved God, loved people and was concerned with their lives. She wanted most to honor Jesus.

Visitation will be at 2 p.m. July 22, Trinity Church in Hot Springs with a celebration of life immediately following at 3 p.m.
