ROYAL —On Wednesday, July 3, 2019, Norietta Ann Ostman, loving wife of John and mother to three children, passed away at the age of 81 following a traffic accident.

Norietta was born on July 25,

1937, in Skiatook, Okla., to Tom and Arietta Byrne.

Norietta had a passion for painting, crafting and gardening. She also loved to bird watch and she combined two of her favorite hobbies to create extraordin­ary art. Her paintings of various birds, sea and landscapes were much admired by friends and family. She was also an avid knitter, combining the art of dyeing the colors into her wool and spinning/weaving a creation. She was a collector of vintage antiques. She was known for her quick wit, her beautiful smile and her kind and compassion­ate spirit towards others. She dearly loved gathering with friends and family. Norietta was also passionate about her Bible studies and growing her relationsh­ip with the Lord.

Norietta was preceded in death by her father, Tom Byrne, and her mother, Arietta Anderson. She was also preceded by her husband, John Ostman, on July 2, 2019.

She ts survived by her three children, Joy Morris (Vince West), of Hot Springs, Kelly G. French (Kuulei), of Honolulu, Hawaii, Danny French (Kelly), of Hot Springs; grandchild­ren, Matthew Morris (Kricia), of Albany, Ga., Meghan Burton (Joshua), of Colliervil­le, Tenn., Connor and Elena French, of Hot Springs; along with four great-grandchild­ren, Warren and Dillon Morris, Jamison and Everly Burton; and several dear friends.

A memorial service for Norietta and John will be held at

10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 at The Glory Barn Church, 136 Treasure Isle Road, Hot Springs, Ark., followed by a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery,

100 Oak Grove Lane, Royal, Ark. Donations may be sent to the Humane Society of Garland County in Norietta’s name.
