Robert Lewis

-

Robert “Louie” Lewis, age 74, of Hot Springs, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1945, in Saline County, Ark., the son of the late Frank and Nettie Lewis.

He loved cold beer, loose slot machines and antique cars. While not a “church-goin’ man,” he and Jesus had a solid relationship. But of all of his passions and interests, he loved his family the most. While he didn’t have a lot of education, he was a brilliant man, capable of fixing almost anything. So renowned for his handiwork, the Lord called him home because the Gates of Heaven were not hanging perfectly level and square and were in need of a bit of tweaking!

He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Elmer, Ernest, Hulon and Elbert; mother-in-law, Mary Dell Campbell; brothers-in-law, Statler Campbell and Wayne Sarna; sisters-in-law, Earline McCallister, Mary Lewis, Lynn Sarna and LaVeta Lewis; niece, Peggy Lewis; and nephew, Larry Lewis.

Left to cherish his legacy of laughter and love are his wife, Nancy Lewis; their son and daughter-in-law, Shane Lewis and Stacy (or as he lovingly called her, Dr. Brown); his lights of his life, his beloved grandchildren, Lexy Lynn Lewis and Statler Ryan Lewis; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends whom he loved deeply.

Louie’s celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Gross Funeral Home with Stephen Campbell, Taylor Payne and Patrick Luse officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral services at Ten Mile Cemetery, Lonsdale.

Pallbearers will be: Jessie Bolden, Michael Lewis, Terry Lewis, Randy Lewis, Cory Boyd and Cody Boyd.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Mike Hampton, Danny Shaw, Wendell Boyd, Wes DeArmon, Sam Naven, Mike Pruitt, Chris Jones, Zac Smith, and David and Aaron Campbell.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. James Humphreys and staff for their many years of care given to Louie, as well as CHI St. Vincent’s pulmonologists, ICU nurses, and respiratory therapists, and the Arkansas Hospice Inpatient nurses for the excellent and compassionate care he received.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at http://www.stjude.org/donate; Arkansas Hospice Inpatient, Hot Springs; or the charity dear to your heart.
