A Hot Springs man was arrested early Thursday after he allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend at her residence and threatened to kill her and himself.

Travis Jerome Clark, 33, of 908 Fleetwood Drive, was taken into custody at his residence shortly after 2 a.m. and charged with third-degree domestic battery and second-degree terroristic threatening, each a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

Clark was initially being held on zero bond but Garland County District Court Judge Ralph Ohm later authorized his bond to be set at $1,000 and issued an order barring Clark from having contact with the victim. He is set to appear today in district court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly before midnight Wednesday, Garland County sheriff’s Deputy Charles DeLaHunt responded to a burglary alarm call at a residence in the 3700 block of Amity Road and began checking buildings at the scene.

A woman came outside and told the deputy her ex-boyfriend, identified as Clark, was at the residence trying to break in and attack her. She said she had arrived home and found Clark there and she asked him to leave via a text message, but he refused.

She said she went up to the residence to talk to him and they started to argue. She said the confrontation turned physical and he grabbed her by the mouth and “leg swept her” to the ground, causing injuries to her right wrist.

She said Clark was on top of her and threatened to “blow her head off” and then kill himself. She said she punched Clark to get him off her and was able to get away and then

Clark fled the area.

DeLaHunt noted the woman had visible injuries to her right wrist, left hand and both knees and took photos.

While he was still taking the report, dispatch advised him Clark wanted to speak to him so he went to Clark’s residence on Fleetwood and made contact with him. Clark was taken into custody without incident and the deputy noted a strong odor of intoxicants on his breath so a Breathalyzer test was conducted which reportedly registered his blood-alcohol content at 0.83 percent, just over the legal limit.
