A local man was arrested on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges Wednesday after allegedly stealing and pawning over $1,300 worth of gaming and media products from a friend he was staying with.

Evan Gilbert Derossitt, 28, of 142 McFee St., was taken into custody at his residence around 5:45 p.m. and charged with a felony count of theft of property over

$1,000, punishable by up to six years in prison, and eight misdemeanor counts of unlawful transfer of stolen property to a pawn shop, each punishable by up to one year in jail.

Derossitt was later released on $10,500 bond and is set to appear Aug. 13 in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on June 29, a local man reported a theft from his residence by a known acquaintance, identified as Derossitt, who he had allowed to stay at his residence since May. He said gaming equipment and media “started to disappear during this time.”

Hot Springs Police Detective Phillip DeFoor did a computer search for activity by Derossitt and determined he had been selling a large amount of property, predominantly gaming equipment and media, between May

30 and June 18. DeFoor compared the products sold by Derossitt and matched them to a list of the stolen items provided by the victim.

The total value of the property sold by Derossitt, which the victim confirmed belonged to him, was $1,360.

On July 12, DeFoor met with the manager of Game X Change,

3954 Central Ave., who reportedly witnessed Derossitt selling the items and completed three of the sales personally. He reportedly picked Derossitt out of a photo lineup.

A warrant for Derossitt’s arrest was issued on July 23.

• A Rockwell man was arrested Wednesday evening after callers complained about him making obscene gestures to motorists in the area of Airport Road and the King Expressway.

Malcom Blake O’Neal, 35, alias “Cracker White,” was taken into custody around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection and charged with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, punishable by up to 30 days in jail.

O’Neal remained in custody Thursday in lieu of $500 bond and is set to appear today in district court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly after 6 p.m., officers responded to the area of Airport Road near the King Expressway regarding calls about a man standing there “provoking violence by raising both of his middle fingers toward oncoming traffic.”

Officer John McLean arrived on the scene and allegedly witnessed the man, identified as O’Neal, raising his middle fingers toward people driving on Airport and the expressway so he was taken into custody.

According to Arkansas law, a person commits disorderly conduct if “with the purpose of causing public inconvenience, annoyance or alarm” he engages in “fighting or violent, threatening or tumultuous behavior,” or uses abusive or obscene language or makes an obscene gesture in a public place “likely to provoke a violent or disorderly response.”
