New Unity COGIC hosts celebration
New Unity Church of God in Christ, 200 Gardner St., will host a weekend-long Family and Friends Day Celebration, “Building the Church through Families,” Friday through Aug. 11.
The celebration will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, featuring keynote speaker Bishop Ron Webb of Mt. Calvary Powerhouse Church in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
It will continue at 9 a.m. Saturday with workshop sessions, featuring keynote speaker, Missionary First Lady Cora Withers of Living Waters COGIC, and at noon there will be food, fun and fellowship.
The celebration will end Sunday with a service at 11 a.m. led by Pastor Tyrone Burnell, Sr. and including a testimony given by Pauline Young.
Roanoke MBC to celebrate Massey anniversary
Roanoke Missionary Baptist Church, 231 Whittington Ave., invites the public to the 35th anniversary of Dr. L.R. and First Lady Deloris J. Massey at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Bro. Willie T. Pickens of Healing Room Ministries in Houston and music will be provided by local soloists and the Roanoke Gospel Choir and Male Chorus.
Greater Ebenezer to hold Deacon Ordination
Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 401 Lacey St., will hold a Deacon Ordination Service for Larry LeTrell McDaniel at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker is Pastor Henry L. Oak Hill MBC hosts homecoming
Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 532 Danville Road, invites the public to its 116th anniversary celebration Sunday. Sunday School will begin at 9:45 a.m. and morning worship will begin at 10:45 a.m. and will be led by Pastor Sam Ault. The service will be followed by a pot luck lunch.
At 1:30 p.m. music by “Junction Five” will conclude the services for the day. There will be no night services.
