ARTS, ETC.: JazzFest graphic culmination of creativity

-

The Hot Springs Jazz Society announced that this year’s JazzFest graphic has been three years in the making.

According to a news release, local art organization Emergent Arts set up a booth during the 2016 JazzFest and started an art project that was shared by attendees of all ages and skill levels.

Throughout that year’s free, seven-hour event, the painting that was created represents “jazz music at its best; the harmonious collaboration born from contributions of many to create a single piece of art.”

“The final piece of work, adjusted by local graphic design artist Hope Foster, is what creates this year’s JazzFest graphic seen on T-shirts and print materials. The final piece of art can be viewed at each of the scheduled concerts during the festival and will ultimately be auctioned at the Jazz Society’s annual fundraiser, Mardi Gras Costume Ball & Contest,” which takes place in February 2020, the release said.

The 2019 JazzFest will kickoff on Aug. 23 with a lively presentation of the Spa City Stompers at the Hot Springs Bathhouse Dinner Theater and continue on Aug. 29 through Sept. 1, over the Labor Day weekend. Other concerts scheduled are Jazz Night at The Ohio Club, Classical & Jazz Blow Out, JazzFest Block Party, a special smooth jazz concert on Sunday and St. Luke’s Jazz Mass. Tickets to attend JazzFest concerts range from free admission to $55. Information on the JazzFest can be found at http:// www.hsjazzsociety.org or by contacting 501-627-2425 or hsjazzfest@gmail.com.

The Hot Springs Jazz Society is a nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to perpetuating, promoting and preserving Jazz Music, an original American art form. The Jazz Society is funded in part by the Arkansas Arts Council, Hot Springs Advertising and Promotion Commission, Morris Foundation and Elisabeth Wagner Foundation along with numerous other corporate and private sponsors.
